I'm 16 and when I turn 17 I plan on trying to get my provisional and pass a CBT test. My mum has an old Honda c90 90cc motorbike which she doesn't use anymore and I could have. It only goes 40mph and struggles to maintain that. I was wondering how much insurance would be though, as it is one of the major turn offs. I'd only be using it to get to my nearest town and close areas to get my experience up to help in my full test and it also lowers insurance costs apparently. But how much would it be?

Alright Y!A? :) Right, so I'm 17 and I'll probably be doing my driving test pretty soon because I'm far into lessons and I've passed my theory test already. (UK - Northern Ireland, Belfast) I'm just wondering what tips you guys out there have maybe from first hand experience or what your friends, siblings or general family have done etc. I'm getting around 3200 in the June when I turned 18 because of a car crash I was in when I was like 9 so I'm hoping to get a car + a year's insurance for around 2500 at the maximum. (Hopefully) I'll probably get a car of a maximum price of about 1000 because in reality I don't need anything fancier than that, the max engine size I'd consider would probably be 1.2 and I'd want my insurance to be such that I can use the car for work such as delivering pizzas or chineses etc. so I have more options trying to find a job atm. I'm just wondering what tips you people have? Could I realistically get insurance for 1500 (Max) or under on a 1000 (Max) car with a 1.2 (Max) Litre engine? I might have to borrow money off my parents and pay them back when I'm 18 if I pass a good few months before my birthday. I'm not coming here telling you to tell me where to get cheap car insurance, I hate questions like that lol cheap car insurance doesn't exist for 17 year olds because we're all boy racers Bla-bla-bla, it's head melting! I just want to use my car to drive to college (5 minute drive), possibly work in depending on if I get a job at this bar or not and drive to peoples' houses if I need to and other general driving. I'm not just going to drive it for the craic at 3am down the motorway doing 100mph, I couldn't be bothered with all that. People who don't qualify for medicaid has to have regular insurance . A lot of those who don't qualify for medicaid can be determined by just a few dollars as they have a cut off limit. If they have to buy insurance wouldn't they have to pay the difference between the ins pay and balance? If one does not get insurance then there is a fine from your taxes. Is all this correct? Does the fine go towards an insurance premium if they pass the new health care law? Sorry for so many questions. Just trying to understand this a bit.

I was issued a speeding ticket today in Illinois (cook county) and I have a question regarding one of my options: If you are 18 years or older, to avoid a conviction on your driving record, plead guilty, register for traffic safety school, pay $115. So let's assume that I pay the fine and complete traffic safety school. My question is regarding my insurance company...do they see that I was issued a speeding ticket but completed traffic safety school or is there no trace of it at all? I've read many things about this; some say that the ticket remains on record but simply does not count against you. Others say that the ticket will be on record and the insurance company can still choose to raise your rates but there is no penalty with the DMV for speeding. I'm hoping that the ticket is completely thrown out as if it never happened but I'm not sure. I have state farm insurance by the way.

Insurance and a car that is being stored in a garage?

I'll have my full license next March and I was thinking of if I found a car (before then) and bought it, registered it and certified it but didn't use it until March (store it in a rented garage). If I did this, could I not pay insurance until I take it onto the road (I've read I can have it SORN )? Also, if I did get insurance for it (should anything happen to it while it's in storage) would I pay less than what I would if it were on the road and if so, how much of a difference would that be?
